I did a case study with SubmitEdge to build 10 backlinks that cost me $170. As I discussed in a later post, SubmitEdge is not the best tool to use for building these types of backlinks. I am going to detail here a better way to spend a couple of hundred dollars to create tons of links. Throughout this post please keep in mind that these are not high quality links we are building (such as the type I was hoping to get with the SubmitEdge service.) Rather, they set a foundation for the good, quality links you get from other webmasters. Also keep in mind to always vary your anchor text as much as possible and to use good, deep linking strategies to juice up your niche sites PageRank.

Unique Article Wizard

For those who don’t have a Unique Article Wizard (UAW) account, it is a service that helps automate a lot of the tedious article marketing that is a must for building backlinks to your niche sites. Using Unique Article Wizard’s methods it is very possible to blast out unique articles to hundreds of different article directories while varying the pages you are linking to and varying the anchor text as much as you want. There is also the added feature of being able to control how often these links get sent out. So rather than sending out 1000 links all at the same time, instead you can send out 50 links a day, or 10, it’s up to you. These links add a good foundation for your other link building strategies and work well to hide your really good links from your competition.

Using UAW is very effective but can be a lot of work. Writing the article and then doing the necessary variations can be very time consuming but recently UAW partnered with a content creation site called MyArticleExpress. Now we can order a “UAW” article from MyArticleExpress with the topic we choose and once finished upload it directly to UAW. You can also add all of the of the other work required, like a resource box and extra titles, to the order for a small fee. The result is a very automated way of building hundreds of backlinks that do not look automated to Google. A UAW article costs about 11 bucks right now and is well worh the cost considering the time it would take to write the article myself. I do the resource box myself, otherwise it costs an extra buck.

Use UAW and MyAricleExpress to Build Thousands of Backlinks

With the partnership of UAW and MyArticleExpress I have streamlined my article marketing efforts even more than before. Now I will detail an awesome strategy for getting the most out of MyArticleExpress articles and the UAW system.

First off I need to have a site that is ready for some good link building. Typically I wait a few months at least before I start using some serious article marketing for it. If I remember right, The Keyword Academy recommends three months before using UAW on a site, or at least trickle the articles out over the span of a month or two rather than a week or two.

Once a niche site is ready for some UAW links I can put in a few orders for articles from MyArticleExpress. Typically I want to parallel these articles with the articles on the niche site. So if I have a niche site about cordless electric knives with 10 posts related to that topic I would order 10 articles from MyArticleExpress on each of those same 10 topics. These are $11 each for 300 words and well worth the cost as you get three 300 word articles on each topic. So $110 gets you thirty 300 word articles on the topics of your choice! Keep in mind that these articles are good enough to use on your money sites so the quality is very good.

Now that you have your articles you can start sending out UAW submissions right? Slow down! Let’s do something with each of those articles first. Have a list of parasitic websites you use for backlink building. As we have determined, if you purchase 10 UAW articles with the MyArticleExpress service you now have 30 articles to work with. Thirty unique articles! Before you blast these out to low ranking directories, use this content on heavy ranking sites like EzineArticles, Hubpages, GoArticles and others to get some decent backlinks to your site first. Also use these articles on your own money sites as they are unique and on topic. If you have decent ranking support sites, use the articles there. Or you can create a parallel site for the purpose of support and post some of those MyArticleExpress articles there. This is a lot of work for something that was supposed to be automated right? Right! But you just spent $110 on these articles, you need to squeeze as much out of them as possible and take advantage of the uniqueness of these articles. Here is a quick list of sites that you can use to post to and create your own links with. Remember to vary your anchor text, vary the pages you link to, vary the parasitic sites you use to link from, vary EVERYTHING!

http://squidoo.com
http://wordpress.com
http://livejournal.com
http://blog.com
http://blog.co.uk
http://jimdo.com
http://blogger.com
http://weebly.com
http://blinkweb.com
http://blogsome.com
http://freewebs.com

There are more, look around, build links!

Alright, now you have 300 unique articles out there and lots of links. Go back to your MyArticleExpress account and start getting these articles blasted out to article directories. Since we put so much effort into varying our link building efforts on our parasitic sites we are going to put that same focus into varying the links we get with the UAW submissions. Create resource files for each of the articles you are going to send out with the UAW service. You have the opportunity to put in two links back to your site from each of the 10 article submissions you are doing with UAW. You also will vary each of those sets of two links with different anchor text. You have plenty of opportunity to throw in your parasitic sites in there as well. Not a must for sure but something to think about if it’s right in your situation.

With each Unique Article Wizard submission you should change up how many links are trickled out per day. If it is a fairly new site with not to many links it is probably best to send out these articles no more than 50 a day per submission. I would do an average of ten a day per submission for a newer site and 50 a day per submission for sites that are older.

If you work it right you will have 1000 article submissions per UAW submisssion with two links in each resource box. Since we are doing ten submissions right now that is potential for roughly 20,000 backlinks to work with from these MyArticleExpress articles with just UAW alone (not counting the articles and backlinks you put up on your parasitic sites) so you want to make sure to vary what you are linking to. These links won’t all be indexed and won’t all count but do try to avoid looking automated where possible.

Remember to vary everything you do for each site and each of you link building strategies!

This is an update for my original SubmitEdge Case Study post from earlier this month.

Alright so the SubmitEdge case study did not go so great. I cannot say that I would recommend SubmitEdge for major link building stuff. In short, I do recommend their service for submitting to directories but as of now I would not recommend their niche link building service and below is why.

Basically I spent $170 on 10 one way relevant links from PR2 or higher sites to one of my niche sites using SubmitEdge. To start off they only allow two different anchor texts and only allow links to one page. I didn’t mind this because, relatively speaking, the price is pretty low. I submitted my two anchor texts and the link I wanted to point to and waited for my report from SubmitEdge detailing the sites mine was submitted to. Ten days after submitting my order I get my detailed report of backlinks and the first thing I did was visit one of the sites. This is a small screen shot of what I saw:

You can click the image to make it bigger. Basically the page is a small farm of links that would not pass any kind of human inspection by Google or other search engines. I visited the other sites and they were more of the same. Bad news for my site. I am by no means no expert as far as what happens with a human visual inspection but best case scenario, if one of these sites were to get reported and looked over by a Google employee they would penalize the link farm and disregard any links given out (I’m out $170.) Worst case scenario? All the sites being linked to would get deindexed (ouch.)

So this is a fairly new site I submitted and I plan on burying these shady links with UAW links and lots of other link building strategies so I’m not to worried about it. Will I use SubmitEdge again for building these types of links? No. I will stick with their directory submission service but this niche link building thing is not their forte.

Next post I will discuss a better way to spend $170 or so on link building and get much more for your money.

Update: Check out the Update on SubmitEdge Case Study

I am doing a bit of an experiment using SubmitEdges’ service and plan on documenting the results here at Niche Link Juice.

I have used SubmitEdge before as a supplement to my link building but only in a very minor way. Specifically I used it to blast out directory submissions for some of my old school very thin BANS sites I used to throw up. I say old school but it was just last year and really those sites used to do very awesome before Google shook things up a bit. I would put up one of those sites, use SubmitEdge to get some good anchor text backlinks out there and let the ePN earnings roll in, it was magic stuff. I know everyone frowns on directory submissions but they work and I still get traffic to the sites I built those links to. Much cheaper to submit them manually but SubmitEdge just saves so much time.

I haven’t used SubmitEdge for awhile and I build and market niche sites way different than before. But I am going to do a little test run with a site I built a few months back that I have not done any link building for yet. It’s got plenty of content, is fully indexed and has enough age to it for some good link building and I am going to use SubmitEdge for some links. I am not going to do any other link building to it other than SubmitEdges’ service. I ordered a niche link building package of 10 links to PR2 or better sites at $170. Pricey? Yes! But it would take me a week of searching around for these types of links and I want to see what SubmitEdge has to offer.

SubmitEdge is a very straighforward SEO service and I would love to add it to the niche site tools I already use but I wanted a way to test how well it works and the return a service of this type offers. So I will track the results and post them later. So far this niche site does damn near nothing for me and I expect that as I only have done on-site work for it. It is a pretty competitive niche and I rank nowhere near the first 10 pages of Google’s SERPs for the term I am targeting. I will follow up soon with how this experiment is going!

I am not typically a social minded kind of guy and from what I have seen so far in my niche site endeavors, neither are other web masters. Normally I would never consider starting a site that is community driven, I just don’t understand people well enough! But I don’t see another way to do this and I have not seen any other site out there that can help with what I am trying to do. There is the forums over at The Keyword Academy and a great page over at Grizzly’s Niche Support Page but I have not had much success with the emails I have sent out there. I think it might be a bit much to maintain with all of the other work Griz does.

I have not been doing this niche site building thing for very long, less than a year in fact. I have been building and working on different websites for awhile but I was not doing it the right way. Content, links, content, links. Those two things are working for me right now and that is what I will continue to do! I don’t have trouble with either of those things much but I have learned that one good quality, relevant backlink from an already established site is gold.

With that in mind I am making a stab at a community driven site. I do not expect many people to associate or have need of what this site has to offer and so it is pretty basic really. Visitors here that need a good on topic backlink can hopefully find what they need at my Find Niche Links page. If not then they can submit their topics to me and I will add them to that page! I sincerely believe that trading links with another webmaster either reciprocally or through a three-way link exchange is a win-win for all parties.

Niche Link Juice is setup with a large focus on the privacy of the webmaster. I do not want your real name, your real email, the details of your niche site or anything else that a casual visitor can use against you. Please use a pseudonym when submitting your topics to Niche Link Juice. Please use a fake email. Please be very vague about your niche topics. Open up with these things only if you are communicating with another webmaster about a potential link exchange.
